During the conduct of your case any information that you provide us with will only be disclosed to staff and/or third parties instructed on your behalf with your knowledge. Therefore unless you specifically tell us otherwise, we will not give any information to anyone else about your case except that we are required by our criminal contract to disclose information to the Legal Aid Agency. We will only request of you such information as is necessary to properly assist you and this information will be kept securely.
The personal information that we will collect and or supply on your behalf in the course of representing you is as follows: your name, address, date of birth, contact information (such as telephone numbers and email addresses), National Insurance number, identity information and documentation and additional information to assist us in advising and representing you and progressing your case.
We have an overriding duty of client confidentiality but we can work closely with other agencies and organisations to try and ensure that our clients have access to all of the services they need. We can put you in touch with these services and can usually arrange appointments for you. Should you require any assistance with other issues please let us know.
If you wish to make a request for personal data please put this in writing for the attention of Liam Muir at our office. He is the Data Protection Officer for Carter Osborne Limited.
We hope that our Data Protection Officer can resolve any query or concern you raise about our use of your information. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. At the conclusion of your case we will store your papers and documents physically and/or digitally for 6 years. If you wish to recover any information you will need to give us 14 days notice. After 6 years it will be destroyed.
